succ17 path2UOn the last weekend in April, the winners for the sixth Start-Up Camp Canberra were announced. Winning first place was team Path2U, with their idea for an application that encourages self-awareness among busy, professional women and offers advice and support from professionals related to anxiety and stress relief.

Thirteen teams pitched to a panel of judges on Sunday afternoon, with ideas that included solutions to promote social inclusion among older people through virtual reality technologies; platforms that link older and younger people together to share unused assets; to online management systems that help match people of any age looking to reskill with potential employment opportunities.

This year’s participants – students and teachers, to designers, web developers, marketers and business thinkers – were encouraged to tackle a specific theme in the ‘100 Year Life’, addressing the challenges and innovation opportunities that will be faced by society as we live increasingly longer.

Second place was awarded to team I+Skills who designed an online platform that connects people who are interested in reskilling with institutions, and provides opportunities for professional work experience with local businesses.

Third place went to team School of Life who took inspiration from the proverb ‘it takes a village to raise a child’, with a platform to share knowledge and skills across generations.

“Taking inspiration from this year’s theme, each team was passionate about solving real-life problems and came up with incredibly, innovative ideas that were focused on living a healthier and happier 100-year life,” said Lighthouse CEO, Anna Pino.

“It was great to see our participants collaborate and work together, not just in their teams but as a whole group, and we congratulate them on all of their efforts.”
